Pink Power Nights
Support Group Monthly meetings for all survivors are upbeat and fun. The trained facilitators who lead the groups are breast cancer survivors themselves. These groups offer breast cancer survivors a unique opportunity to meet and explore common concerns. Guest speakers provide valuable information during the sessions, always allowing time for mutual sharing and support. There is no fee to attend the support group sessions.
Support Line
The telephone Support Line is available 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm. You will talk to a survivor. Our trained volunteers respond to calls and provide comfort and support during critical times, as well as information regarding services and resources available in Berks County. The Support Line telephone number is 610.375.9925.
Educational Seminars
Providing the latest medical information on breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. A panel of health care professionals educates volunteers, survivors and community. Programs are free.
Comfort Bags
BCSS offers Berks County women a Comfort Bag at the time of breast cancer diagnosis. Designed to provide comfort at a confusing time, the Bags include books, nightshirt, soft pink pillow, relaxing CD and other soothing items. Each Comfort Bag is prepared in the BCSS office by volunteers.
Jennie J. Palkon née Lis Scholarship
Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County is proud to honor the memory of Jennie J. Palkon née Lis. BCSS is offering two $500 scholarships to high school students whose lives have been affected by Breast Cancer. Students should be enrolled as a senior of a local high school, technology center or home-schooled and have plans to attend a two year or four year institution of higher learning or technical institute. The student may be affected by the breast cancer diagnosis of a parent, family member, or friend. Also acceptable is any way that a student may feel his or her life has been affected by the disease of breast cancer. Download and print aplication form: MS Word format | PDF format
Annual Conference
An educational conference is held annually in October. Speakers from the medical community provide current information on the management of breast cancer and innovative methods to live with the diagnosis of breast cancer. There is a small fee to attend the conference.
Lending Library
Breast Cancer Support Services has Berks County's most extensive library of books and videos on breast cancer and related topics with over 200 books, tapes, videos, and pamphlets.
Newsletter
A newsletter is published 2 times per year. The contents include information about upcoming events, and articles of interest to breast cancer survivors. Read some issues.
